Northern Rivers climate

With mild winters and pristine natural environments, the trail has an envious climate that encourages year-round use with an average low of 21 in winter (July) to a max of 29 in summer (January).

The Northern Rivers Rail Trail is surrounded by a sub-tropical natural environment and sections of the Rail Trail will cocoon you in nature, adjoin farmlands and open to vistas of stunning scenic views including Wollumbin / Mount Warning where the sun first hits the Australian continent.

The Northern Rivers can experience intense rainfall and flooding. Rail Trail visitors may experience changing weather conditions across the Rail Trail and should prepare, plan and pack accordingly. As a nature trail, conditions can change unexpectedly.
